The Allen Bradley EIE (also referred to as the Allen Bradley fixed EIE) supports SLC-503/4/5 devices over a serial connection. It includes no device template file. Interaction with this EIE occurs by way of CygNet SCADA remote device editors or script.
Data groups for the Allen Bradley EIE are considered generic data groups because each must be written from scratch to satisfy specific, custom programs on associated field devices.
The successful use of this EIE depends very much on your knowledge of the associated field devices and the programs loaded on to them. CygNet SCADA data groups must be written to map to the controller data items that you want to include in your SCADA system. The remote device editor user interface provides tools to help make connections clear.
For more information about SLCs, see the Rockwell Automation document SLC 500 Instruction Set Reference Manual (1747-rm001_-en-p.pdf).
