Data Groups

With few exceptions, data groups must be defined in a device template file in order for them to be available for use on a remote device. Which data groups are defined by a device template file depends on protocol, device type, and unique configuration.

CygNet distributes sample device template files for its EIEs, each of which typically serves one or more hardware models along with applicable firmware. Therefore, the data groups described below are only those data groups defined by CygNet in sample device template file(s). Your template(s) might not include some of the data groups described below. Device template files exist to enable users to customize device configurations; however, CygNet is not responsible for changes made by users.

For information about data group definitions and device template files, see Device Template Files.

For more information about data group dependencies, see Data Group Dependencies.

Note: Certain template files (FbNet_ACP_TD.dtf, FbNet_ACP_V4_RTU5000.dtf, FbNet_CBM_Pod.dtf, FbNet_CBM_WellHead_RTU5000.dtf, and FbNet_CBM_WellHead_TD.dtf) can be extended to include additional operational codes (opcodes) and to read/write specific portions of the Comm Control data structure, which consists of hundreds of items. Comm Control data groups (msgType="ComCtrl") are structures with constituent data group elements that represent items (for instance, item="analog_scale.sample_hi"). Item names must match those defined in the device’s Comm Control data structure. All Comm Control data groups issue the same opcode. Other opcodes can be handled generically through the default data groups. In this case, data must match that prescribed by the opcode specified.

FcuModbus

The "FCU Modbus Setup (code 20)" data group requires you to select a device type and Modbus address, to define the data and registers, and to set up Modbus communication options. This must be configured on the device during device installation.

FcuTrend

"Trend - FCU"

GasConfig

"Gas Measurement Config" enables the use of default AGA-3 and AGA-7 configuration data for CygNet-based calculations if no device configuration is available.

See Change Log and FMS Legacy Configuration Data.

GmrCfgSend

"FMS Legacy Config Send Data" is used to send modified measurement data to the field device.

This data group is required only if you plan to use FMS and want to perform this specific task.

See also FMS Legacy Config Send Data Group.

"FMS Legacy Configuration Data" See Change Log and FMS Legacy Events Data.

GmrEvent

"FMS Legacy Events Data" depends on Change Log.
