Modbus Realflo EIE

The Modbus Realflo EIE works with a number of versions of Realflo embedded software. It supports connectivity to Modbus RTUs using the standard Gould/Modicon Modbus protocol. It also supports Enron Modbus extensions, like those for Enron events and history. The Modbus Realflo EIE only has access to those register maps exposed by Realflo software and which use a Modbus message format.

Two Modbus modes are supported: Enron Modbus and Realflo Modbus. Each mode is accessed by a different address: Enron MB address and Realflo MB address. Each address directs messaging to a different set of registers. Very many of the registers represent the same data regardless of mode. The Realflo Modbus mode includes some items not available using Enron Modbus. However, such items do not use a Modbus message format and therefore cannot be communicated with using this EIE. Some configuration-oriented points cannot be accessed with either of the modes; such points can only be accessed by using the Realflo configuration utility.

With the Modbus Realflo EIE, the Enron Station ID is the primary address used for communication with an associated field device and is the only way to obtain flow computer data. However, CygNet SCADA still enables you to access Station ID registers. Such registers are unlikely to be needed often, so the address used to access them (Station ID) is considered an alternate address. To use legacy functionality, your CygNet Modbus Realflo EIE remote device(s) must first be configured to use a Realflo MB address value. (The Realflo MB address field is on the CygNet remote device Device page.) Then you must add correctly defined legacy data groups to the device template file associated with your Modbus Realflo EIE remote device(s).

CygNet remote devices and their associated field devices must be configured to support the multi-mode functionality described above. To do so, set an alternate address on the CygNet SCADA remote device Device page and edit applicable data group XML to use the alternate address.

You can also add and delete custom Modbus data groups. Enron data groups must contain the correct number and types of data group elements per the Enron EFM standard. For applicable data group elements, units must be defined in the template either on a case-by-case basis or by using a unit set. See manufacturer documentation for supported unit types and sets.

ModbusRealflo_6.92.dtf

(This dtf supports Realflo firmware v6.92, which includes liquid and water meters, batch history data, and run-specific history indexing. These features are supported on the NOCT60, SCADAPack 330, 334, 350, 357, 410 and 4230 controllers. They are not supported on the SCADAPack 32 or SCADAPack 16-bit controllers.)

ModbusRealflo_Pre_6.92.dtf (formerly ModbusRealflo.dtf)

ModbusRealfloX.dtf (use if performing a migration from the Realflo EIE)

Cryout Support

No

FMS Support

Yes, using FMS EFM data items

Note: In cases where both GMR and FMS support was previously available, CygNet Measurement now provides data support using FMS data items only. If you were previously using GMR data items, you must update to use FMS data items. Update options are provided as part of your software upgrade procedure. See the CygNet Upgrade Procedure for more information.

Listen Mode

Yes

64-bit Support

Yes. See 64-bit Device Drivers.

For more information, see sample device template files and manufacturer documentation.

Note: The Modbus Realflo EIE replaces the Realflo EIE, which is now obsolete. Contact CygNet Support for more information if you need assistance migrating your devices.
