Line Pack
CygNet Line Pack is a multi-purpose application integrated with the CygNet SCADA system used to estimate the following line pack values:
- the volume of natural gas in a pipeline segment in MCF (thousand cubic feet) at any selected time period
-OR-
- the mass of supercritical CO2 in a pipeline segment in lb/ft³ (pounds per cubic foot) at any selected time period
-OR-
- the volume of petroleum liquids in a pipeline segment in MCF (thousand cubic feet) at any selected time period
Additional, optional calculations are also available:
- Pack at MAOP — In addition to the primary pack calculation, a secondary calculation may be optionally performed to calculate the pack at the Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) for any pipeline content type. The result of this calculation is stored in the same manner as the primary pack.
- Energy Content — Line pack volume converted to energy content. MAOP calculation also available. Applies to natural gas only.
- Density — Line pack measured or calculated density. MAOP calculation also available. Applies to supercritical CO2 and petroleum liquids only.
- Mass — Line pack volume converted to mass. MAOP calculation also available. Applies to petroleum liquids only.
- Mass Imbalance and Balance — This is the flow rate at which pipeline material is lost from or gained in a pipeline segment in terms of mass. Can aid in the detection of segment leaks. Applies to all pipeline content types: natural gas, CO2, and petroleum liquids.
- Volume Imbalance and Balance — This is the flow rate at which pipeline material is lost from or gained in a pipeline segment in terms of standard volume. Can aid in the detection of segment leaks. Applies to all pipeline content types: natural gas, CO2, and petroleum liquids.

Line Pack EIE
The Line Pack EIE consists of two parts: an editor, which is used to configure the device in the Device Definition Service (DDS), and a driver, which is used by the Universal Interface Service (UIS) to perform Line Pack calculations.
