CygNet Explorer User Interface – Menu Bar

CygNet Explorer contains three fixed menu items to access options for performing various CygNet tasks: File, View, and Help.

File Menu

The File menu contains options for managing and printing service records, and exiting the application.

Option Description

New

Add a new record to the selected service. The appropriate dialog box will open for the selected service. For example, the Permissions Properties dialog box for the ACS, the Device Editor for the DDS, the Note Editor for the NOTE, or the New RSM Entry dialog box for the RSM.

The option is dimmed if not applicable, for example, CAS, MSS tasks, UIS.

Delete

Delete the selected record from the selected service. All deletions will require confirmation. Shortcut is DEL key.

Properties

Show or change the properties for the selected item. The dialog box displayed will depend on the item selected:

  • If you have selected a service in the service hierarchy, the SITE.SERVICE Properties dialog box will display.
  • If you have selected a record in the service pane, the appropriate dialog box will open for the selected service.

Print

Opens the Print dialog box to print the active document. Shortcut is Ctrl+P.

Print Preview

Shows a print preview.

Print Setup

Opens the Print Setup dialog box to change print options.

Exit

Closes CygNet Explorer after prompting to save documents.

View Menu

The View menu contains options for managing and navigating the CygNet Explorer user interface. Options on this menu differ depending on the service selected in the Service Hierarchy.

Toolbar

Toggles display of the toolbar.

Status Bar

Toggles display of the status bar.

Auto Refresh

Click to automatically refresh status indicators when services start or stop.

Filter Arrow

Filter services displayed in the service hierarchy.

  • Add Filter (Ctrl+Shift+F)
  • Edit Filter (Shortcut is Ctrl+F)
  • Delete Filter (Shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+F)
  • Enable Filter (Shortcut is F9)

Refresh

Refresh the service or record information. Shortcut is F5.

Service Specific Options

DBS-Based Services

Select Search

Select a search index.

Jump To

Jump to selected field. The fields listed are based on the selected index. Shortcut is Ctrl+J.

Hide Database Key

Click to Hide/Display the column in the service pane containing Data key values for each record.

ACS

View Groups

Select to view the desired page in the service pane. See Security.

View App Admins

View Group Admins

APPS/BSS

Replace File

Select to manage the files in the Blob service.

Download File

Update File Time

CAS

Acknowledge

See Acknowledging Alarms.

Acknowledge Visible

Clear

See Clearing and Force Clearing Alarms.

Force Clear

Hide…

See Hiding Alarms.

Unhide

Suppress…

See Suppressing Alarms.

Point Properties…

Opens the Point Properties dialog box for the selected point.

Point Configuration Arrow

Select the desired option for the selected alarm.

Alarm History…

See Alarm History.

Alarm Statistics…

Opens the Alarm Service Statistics dialog box about the CAS.

Alarm Auto Configuration…

See Alarm Auto Configuration.

Select All

Selects all alarms.

Filter…

Opens the Alarm Filter dialog box to edit or create filter rules in Run mode.

Columns…

Opens the Alarm Columns dialog box to add/remove columns from the view in Run mode. These changes will not be saved to the screen.

Wrap Columns

Enables or disables the word wrap feature in the columns.

Show Alarm Color

If enabled, displays the configured alarm colors. If disabled, displays all grid information in black and white.

Refresh

Refresh the service or record information. Shortcut is F5.

Select Print Range…

Opens the Select Print Range dialog box to select rows or columns to print.

Print Report…

Opens the Print Options to print the current screen.

Sound…

Opens the Sound Settings options.

GNS

View Queue

Acknowledge Resend Entries

MSS

View Blackouts

Select this option to view the Blackouts page of the MSS.

View Tasks

Select this option to view the Tasks page of the MSS.

Execute Now

Select this option to execute an MSS task immediately. For one instance only, Execute Now issues the selected task to its respective service. The task's priority determines when the task will initiate an actual poll. After the task executes, polling returns to the task's scheduled routine.

Note: You must either have administrative access to the service or have "update" level access to the security event EXECNOW to run this task.

PNT

Current Value

Click to access the Point Properties dialog box containing the Point Properties for the selected point including current value, point state details, point attributes, status bit details, and additional options.

Copy to Clipboard Arrow

Use these options to copy the desired item to the clipboard.

RSM

Start

The RSM will start the selected service. See Service Management for more information.

Stop

The RSM will stop the selected service. See Service Management for more information.

Kill

Kill the selected service. When a service is killed, a Microsoft Windows "stop" message is sent to the service. Only use if the service is not responding to a normal CygNet stop request.

Configure

Configure Status and General information about the selected service.

VHS

Delete

Delete the selected point and all values. This action cannot be undone.

Toggle Point ID Sort Column

Toggle between sorting the list of points by point ID and long point ID. See History Records.

Jump To Point

Search for a particular point. See History Records.

View Values

View the History Values for a point.

Help Menu

The Help menu contains options to link to application help and application version information.

Option Description

Help

Displays an online Help window. Shortcut is F1.

About CygNet Explorer

Displays an About CygNet Explorer Application dialog box to view application information.

Available information includes the following:

  • The application name, version, and release date
  • Copyright information
  • The CygNet Software website address, including a hyperlink to the website
  • The log file location, including a hyperlink to the log file
  • The location of the application's file executable

In addition to information about the application, the About box includes the following buttons:

  • Client Settings — opens the Client Settings dialog box to view and modify client log settings for the application on an ad hoc basis. See Client Log Settings in the Logging section for more information.
  • Diagnostics — access the following options for additional analysis from the drop-down menu:
  • Loaded Modules — use this option to view and search file information for modules loaded in your system. Double-click any result row to view properties for that module. See Loaded Modules for more information.
  • Gather Logs — accesses the Windows file directory where the open log files are located. Double-click to select and view an application log file.
  • User Local Crash Dumps — Local crash dumps are not enabled. See Generating Crash Dumps for more information.
  • Close — click to close the About box.
