Blueprint Creation Best Practices
Building an accurate and complete blueprint for your system can be a time-intensive process. Here are some tips that we recommend to help make the blueprint creation process successful.
Use an Existing Blueprint
We provide two sample blueprints with the installation that describe a complex model for a CygNet system, based on our CygNet for Production reference implementation.
If your system was based on CygNet for Production, these samples will provide an accelerated start for your blueprint creation.
If your system wasn’t based on CygNet for Production, these samples can still show you how to configure a complex blueprint.
Import from a Running Site
Many of the various steps to create a blueprint have built-in import functionality. These import steps allow you to connect to a running site and pull over its configurations into your blueprint. If you have a site that is well-configured, importing its configuration can save you a lot time.
Start with a Facility
Consider starting your blueprint building with your facility definitions. This will give you the context to know the necessary points and facility attributes to import. It may be helpful to start with a single facility definition, validate, modify as necessary, and repeat.
Use Validation Helpers
Many of the results returned during validation will give you the option to fix your system or fix your blueprint. This can help you rapidly build up the blueprint’s configurations based on how it conflicts with a running site.
