Installing a Device Template File

Important: Validate device template files before loading them into the Device Definition Service (DDS). An XML editor validates basic syntax and structure but the CygNet Device Template Manager utility performs more advanced checks relevant to CygNet device template files.

Before you can add a templated remote device, you must install its device template file. Use CygNet Explorer or the CygNet Device Template Manager utility to install and load templates to the Device Definition Service (DDS).

To Install a Template Using CygNet Explorer

  1. Using CygNet Explorer, right-click in the DDS pane and select Device Definitions....
  2. Click Install to DDS.
  3. Browse to the device template file, select the file, and click Install.
  4. Click Close.
