CygNet ELF EIE Editor
Configuration of the ELF system is made possible by using the property pages of the Energy Load Forecasting EIE editor. From the EIE editor an administrator can control all aspects of the forecasting process, including: the configuration of system default attributes, specification of file input locations, input data category setup, neural network template and definition creation, and viewing of the statuses and training results for neural network definitions.
Note: Configure only one ELF device in a system to import data and perform forecasts.
Adding an ELF Device
The following topics discuss how to add and configure an ELF import device. ELF device instances are defined as an Import/Export device type in the DDS.
- Using CygNet Explorer, open the Device Definition Service (DDS), and select the Import/Export Devices page.
- To add a new ELF device, right-click in the white space and select New Import/Export Device.
- In the Select a Device Type… list select Energy Load Forecasting and click OK. The system will ask you if you want to create a baseline ELF configuration data set. Click Yes.
Note: If you right-click on an existing import device, that device will be used as a template; right-click in the white space for a blank record.
- Configure the device and save your work often by clicking Apply or OK (Apply saves the changes and keeps the dialog box open; OK saves the changes and closes the box).
Configuring an ELF Device
The ELF device interface contains eight pages: Device, UIS Commands, File Import, System Settings, Input Items, Meters/Owners, Neural Nets, and Advanced. Each page is described in subsequent topics.
- The Device page contains general information about the device such as the device name, description, transaction logging, and device security. See Configuring the ELF Device.
- The UIS Commands page lists the defined UIS Commands for executing Training, Forecasting, and Variance Analysis for the specific ELF device instance. See Configuring UIS Commands.
- The File Import page is used to configure the import settings for each of the four ELF file import types: historical gas load data, forecast gas load data, historical input data, and forecasted input data. See Configuring File Import Settings.
- The System Settings page is used to configure default system attribute values, including those related to CygNet service specification, default facility types, meter and meter group configuration, neural network defaults, and other general settings. See Configuring System Settings.
- The Input Items page is used to configure the settings used to interpret and store the information received from the historical input data and forecast input data files imported into the system. Additionally, Calendar Input types and entries, and Input Owner Categories are configured on this page. See Configuring Input Items.
- The Meters/Owners page displays a hierarchy of all meters and input owners defined in the system. From this page you can create and configure meters, meter groups, input owners, and input owner groups. The hierarchies displayed include the default groups of All Targets, Meter Groups, Misconfigured Meters/Groups, All Input Owners, Input Owner Groups, and Misconfigured Owners. - The Neural Nets page displays a hierarchy of all neural network templates and definitions defined in the system. A neural network template encapsulates all of the non-meter-specific parameters required to allow a neural network to be trained and used for forecasting. A neural network definition is a neural network that is fully configured with enough information such that it can be successfully trained and used to forecast energy load estimates for a single meter or meter group. From this page you can create and configure neural network templates and definitions, as well as view the statuses of neural network definitions. The hierarchies displayed include the default groups of Meter/Group Definitions, All Definitions, All Templates, and Pending Approval. See Configuring Neural Networks.
- The Advanced page contains properties that allow you to view the device configuration in XML format, save the settings to an XML file, load previously saved settings from an XML file, and configure thread settings and retention settings. See Configuring Advanced Settings.
While the pages of the ELF editor are presented in the general order they need to be configured, full configuration requires some jumping around from page to page. See Typical ELF Workflow for more information.
