Thin Web Client Licensing Requirements
CygNet Thin Web Client is a separately licensed component of the CygNet SCADA platform licensed for use by CygNet Software. A valid license file is required containing appropriate CygNet Thin Web Client license keys or tokens. The Thin Web Client web server will not function without proper licensing compliance. Licensing is implemented by means of a standard purchased license or a free time-based trial license, acquired either at the time of purchasing CygNet SCADA or after purchasing CygNet SCADA.
Contact your Account Manager or CygNet Sales for licensing information.
CygNet.lic File
If you are adding use of the CygNet Thin Web Client to an existing installation, you will be shipped a new CygNet.lic file. Place the new license file in the license master Services\ARS directory, replacing the existing CygNet.lic file, which includes all your existing licensing information, along with the new use permissions for the CygNet Thin Web Client product.
License Enforcement
To enforce the licensing, the main Thin Web Client web server will perform a license check to confirm that a CygNet Thin Web Client license key is active in the license file. If it is not licensed, the web service will shut down and log a shutdown reason into the error log file. The CygNet Thin Web Client server will check for one of two types of license tokens in the CygNet.lic file:
- The first and primary token checks if the customer is authorized. The license file must contain an enabled CygNet Thin Web Client token and be loaded in the master ARS on the same domain where the TWC services will be running in order for the user to be authorized to use the product.
- The second token checks for a trial license. With this type of token TWC services are authorized for use on a limited-time basis.
